2017

SPECIAL EVENT – SUNDAY DECEMBER 10TH – 10AM – RAILROAD SQUARE CINEMA IN WATERVILLE

Join us for the FREE viewing of this amazingly educational & family friendly movie –

What’s On Your Plate?

This incredible documentary is about kids and food politics, as spoken through the eyes of two eleven year old girls – Sadie & Safiyah.

“The girls address questions regarding the origin of the food they eat, how it’s cultivated, how many miles it travels from the harvest to their plate, how it’s prepared, who prepares it, and what is done afterwards with the packaging and leftovers. They visit the usual supermarkets, fast food chains, and school lunchrooms. But they also check into innovative sustainable food system practices by going to farms, greenmarkets, and community supported agriculture programs.”

This is such an important film for the entire family as well as our community!

And…

We will have a panel of local guest speakers for a little Q&A after the movie!

It will be a morning full of fun & education for all! Join us!

November 17th – Dr. Elyse Corbett

Postpartum Experiences

This month we discussed Postpartum Experiences.  This is a very deep and sometimes dark conversation, and we are working towards putting much more focus on this sadly overlooked topic.  80% of moms go through some form of postpartum depression ranging from baby blues to more serious levels.  Dr. Elyse Corbett has been our speaker for the last two years but due to a family emergency she was unable to attend this month.  Luckily, we had two postpartum doulas, Danielle Dickey and myself, who were able to take the reigns.  We discussed different types of postpartum depression, what to look for and how to help.  This includes not only mom, but also partner and other family members.  There were handouts, stories and lists galore.  We will post some video upon completion and until then, here is a handout that Elyse gives at every talk, and I now give to every expectant couple I work with.  Elyse fully intends on joining us again in 2017!
